Fuel management system

Our program on Airline Fuel Efficiency Management

Fuel consumption is one of the main components of the Direct Operating Costs (DOC) of an airline. The cost of fuel generally accounts for 25% to 40% of the total operating costs. Managing fuel consumption is therefore of utmost importance because it has a direct effect on profits.

Fuel management can only be efficient if all aspects of the airline operation are taken into account. Therefore it is necessary to look at flight operations, ground operations, as well as the engineering & maintenance activities to identify and implement fuel efficiency initiatives.

What do we do

We can help with providing you insight in your current fuel efficiency. We have a holistic airline approach acknowledging cohesion of fuel influences across the flight operations, ground operations and engineering & maintenance departments. We support the development and implementation of a tailor made fuel efficiency program, with the aim to reduce overall cost.

Due to our extensive experience as pilots, operational and fuel efficiency managers in aviation we understand very well that all fuel related issues are directly related to the safe operations of an airline.

During every step of the programme safety and compliance to regulations have the utmost priority and are always considered.

Our modules

We have developed a structured 5 step modular airline fuel efficiency program. The advantage is that you have the flexibility to conduct each step as a separate module and decide to continue to the next step only if expected efficiency justifies the benefits.

  1. Quick scan. This is a benchmark of your efficiency against best practices in the business.
  2. Gap analysis. This analysis compares over 100 fuel efficiency initiatives within your planning & dispatch organization, flight operations, ground operations, engineering & maintenance activities and more.
  3. Efficiency case studies. The most promising initiatives out of the gap analysis may warrant a case study with the objective to justify the investment, risks, time, training, effort etc. needed for implementation.
  4. Implementation support. The promising initiatives that pass the case study need to be implemented in an effective way. This is critical for the delivery of the intended benefits. The support covers complete project management for implementation like the development of the process, procedures, training, communication, performance indicators and more.
  5. Organizational adaptation support. Adjustments may be needed to your organization to complete the PCDA-cycle for the control and continuous improvement of processes related to fuel management. This support covers aspects like fuel policies, adherence to rules and regulations, documentation, monitoring of compliance/adherence to fuel related operating procedures, tracking benefits of implemented initiatives, automated (IT) fuel dashboards, management reviews and more.

Recovery and transformation services

Problems can become opportunities

We specialize in Business Recovery by bending problems into opportunities. We take the lead in complex multi-jurisdictional reorganizations and restructurings. We provide access to partners who specialise in areas which often prove pivotal in distressed situations, such as dispute resolution, legislation and finance. The starting point always involves maintaining the unique value of your company in relation to your customers, optimizing cash flow and restoring profitability.

Let us together take the road to recovery

Your company might be struggling with keeping up liquidity, while in essence the business itself is healthy. Simultaneously pressure can become tremendous due to time constraints and high external demands. Shareholders and banks want to see plans, while customers and staff are getting restless. Plans might involve complex issues, such as selling or closing (parts) of the business or entering into new financing on unfavorable terms, while dealing with day-to-day operations.

Taking a swift and proactive approach can make the difference between losing or saving the business. You want to remain in control. We can assist you in full by providing you with pragmatic and realistic scenario’s quickly, by transforming scenario’s into action plans and by implementing these action plans throughout the business.

Our approach

We start by drawing up a detailed and concise financial business plan in which we pay specific attention towards a thorough liquidity analysis. It is drawn up on a daily / weekly / monthly basis for the next 12 months and consecutive years.

Simultaneously, we will optimize the cash position by pulling forward revenue streams and by postponing outgoing payments. We will always do so in corporation with customers and suppliers. We will communicate to all stakeholders on a regular basis. If necessary we will renegotiate the financing terms. In certain circumstance we will assist in attracting new capital.

In addition to optimizing financial processes, we will emphasize on operational processes. We will highlight chances in changing operational stuctures that can increase efficiency and reduce costs, while having a minimum impact on the business. Often these changes include optimization of overhead costs, the discontinuation of loss-making projects and the close or sale of inefficient businesses.

Data management and analytics

Turning data into information

In the current world it has become normal practice to store vast quantities of operational data. However, data in itself does not tell you what you want to know. Data is only useful if it reflects what is happening in the real world. Datasets are hardly ever complete, measurements are seldom 100% accurate and, more importantly, data can be deceiving by itself.

We believe it is important to understand the real world first to solidify the answers coming out of our data analysis. Getting information out of data requires time and intelligent resources.

What do we do

Our team of data experts is able to assist you with the retrieval of the most relevant internal and external data, turn it into information, identify opportunities and give you actionable insights.

We have a strong background in analysis of operational data in the aviation industry. We offer special expertise in data management in:

  • Flight Data Monitoring
  • Safety Management Systems
  • Environmental Management Systems
  • Fuel Management Systems

We offer data analysis services to provide you with a better and clearer insight in your operation in five steps.

Our modules
  1. Understanding. In every project we work closely with our client’s various stakeholders to get to know the situation. Interviews will be done across the organization, not only with top management, but also with employees “on the floor”.
  2. Data collection and analysis. The data will be collected from all relevant sources, analyzed and transformed to understandable information or models.
  3. Identifying opportunities. We identify the biggest opportunities and transform them into standalone projects or models.
  4. Implementation support. We work collaboratively across functions and business units, from top to bottom to implement the identified opportunities.
  5. Continuation support. Once data projects or models have been developed, refined and proven, our analytics experts can provide periodic review and refresh as required.

Loyalty management

Adapting to rapidly changing markets

The world is changing daily and successful firms recognize that they have to adapt to this change. In the tourism and aviation industry the invention of the “Internet”, the introduction of low cost business models, the rise of strategic alliances, and the renewed customer focus have dramatically altered the way of doing business.

Evolve recognized these changes and developed a strategy to prepare your company for the future. There is a renewed interest in customer loyalty and the question often raised is if a customer loyalty program would create value. Nowadays a loyalty program is mainly employed as a marketing tool to create and enhance customer loyalty. The full benefits of true customer loyalty can be unlocked by adopting a loyalty-based approach throughout the entire firm.

The findings of a study conducted by Evolve in 2014 confirm that a loyalty program has a positive effect on customer value variables like social media referral behaviour, share of wallet and retention. Depending on the cost of operating a customer loyalty program there is value creating potential.

What do we do

Evolve can help you to unlock the true potential and value of customer loyalty in such a way that this loyalty is sustainable. We will start by drafting a loyalty management strategy where we place the creation of a consistent superior customer experience at the centre of the business strategy. By encouraging repeat purchasing among loyal, profitable customers the company can initiate numerous economic advantages. If these benefits are subsequently invested in the loyalty-based system the future customer value can be enhanced.

We can assist companies in the shift from a transaction-orientated approach to a relationship-orientated approach. The strategic focus will be on the customer and not on products and the marketing efforts will concentrate on customers and not only on product lines.

Our approach

Different customers have different needs and may require a different approach. Furthermore research has shown that different groups of customers are susceptible to different kinds of loyalty initiatives. The Net Promoter Score (NPS) system is a very useful and widely used metric to indicate loyalty. Evolve will take the next step by segmenting your customer beyond the NPS levels of promoter, passive and detractor. Your company will be able to focus their loyalty initiatives on those customers that create the biggest future value.

By determining the customer engagement value (CEV) we can measure the value effects of loyalty and subsequently integrate loyalty management in the business strategy, we help you to determine how much a customer is financially “worth”.

Food for thought

Respect is earned | Honesty is appreciated | Thrust is gained | Loyalty is returned

It reminds us that loyalty can not be bought. It should be deserved by investing in long-term company- employee-customer relations. Reach out to us and tell us about your initiatives. Let us discuss how we can start unlocking true customer and stakeholder loyalty together.
